We're supposed to be going on a bird trip later in the week. I've been trying to shake a cold that started coming on on Saturday.I feel lousy. Don't that figure when you want to do something!

Get well soon and hope you get to make your trip. Taking a week off the end of October for birds and a week in November. You can't beat this time of year!

I've shot a small doe already, and should have had a fork-horn Saturday afternoon.

My stand is in a pine grove on the edge of a creek. He come up from the brush and was broadside at 40' by the time I saw him. The rain killed any noise he was making. He spooked and jumped back in the brush when I tried to draw.

He'll be back.

In my romps I've noticed acorns are decent this year but beech nuts, Fagus grandifolia, aren't.

Too bad you don't live near my brother's house he has a zillion apples off his trees this year. He doesn't prune so the apples are tiny but there are a lot of them. Some buddy of his picked up a whole pickup load of them for "live stock feed" last weekend. You know....pine apples

Birds and bunnies are in good supply so far this season. Plenty of deer sign in two places now, that I didn't expect. The .444 Marlin is spit shined and ready to go! We will head down below rt. 16 to bag some turkeys in a couple of weeks.
