So, for those of you who responded to my question a few weeks ago (The "real" Maine scene) , I have since had my visit there in Maine and here are my thoughts.
The people are very down to earth and reasonable. I just felt comfortable and it seems as if I could slip right into the culture there with few complications. Not to mention , as I mentioned in my previous post, that the climate, winters, and rural lifestyle is something I thrive in as a result from 9 years living in Northern Minnesota. Overall I had a great time, felt at home, and , most importantly, found the population in general to be accepting and tolerant ( as long as the sentiment is mutual).
I have no desire to change anyone or anything, or to turn Maine into the place where I came from on any level. I'll take Maine and Mainers just the way it is/they are.
As I told my prospective employer ( who is willing to hire me by the way, " ...talk it over with your wife and if you're serious about relocating to Maine, we'll get serious." ) if logistics and financial resources were not a problem, we would be out here in two weeks.
It may be surprising to some of you locals, but I may have to come out to Maine just to make a living. My industry is dead here in the midwest and , while it may not be booming in Maine, it seems to be reliable enough to maintain us and when things turn around , I believe we can prosper.
Any and all comments welcome.

I think Maine is a good place to weather the coming storm. As to the present economy; we haven't seen anything yet. Buckle up. She's going to be a bumpy ride.

I'm glad you had a good trip with prospects. It does seem odd for someone to come here for work. Usually the other way around. Good luck to you and be safe. Welcome to Maine.

I hope in talking with your prospective employer you'll discover a way to work out the logistics and financial resources. No doubt, moving is expensive, but oftentimes where there's a will, there's a way. Best wishes with everything!
