I bought a used 1995 Chevy 2500 Turbo Diesel 4x4 Pickup, and a used 8x12 trailer and packed it with all my stuff. My brother and I set out last Monday morning the 13th at 11:30am from Sacramento, CA. Our second stop was here at the Boomtown, CA parking lot to check tarp and pack job.

We got home at 9:00pm Friday night. 105 hours. 3280 miles. 12 fill-ups. 4 motels. 650 mile days. And a three thousand mile stare. Never rained the whole way. Didn't even know if the wipers worked. Of course, last Saturday it rained all day here in Dover at my sisters place and my boxes got all wet. So I parked the packed trailer in a next door neighbors barn for now, until I find a place.

Mileage was a consistant 11 miles per gallon no matter if we were going over the Sierra's, Rockies, high plains or city driving. Now that I'm empty, my new 'old' pickup gets 16 around town. I sure can pick'em I guess because I had no issues and no problems with the truck or trailer.

I watched sports all weekend and just today got serious about looking for a place of my own. After looking tirelessly for an hour, I called a relative that has lived here forever and I found a 2 bedroom apt in town for $300. It pays to know people and have friends I guess.

Looks like good riding weather coming up. I'm getting new tires on my old vintage Goldwing. There must have been a couple hundred bikes go by my sisters place here on Sunday. Coming from the Millinocket HOG Rally I suppose. If I wasn't so tired, I'dagone. Anyways, glad to be back to the east coast.

I'm so glad you had a safe trip. That's a lot more driving than I would want to do! Good news on the apartment too. Welcome home.

Great pictures!

Now how does that $300/month apartment compare to Sacramento?

Welcome to Maine.

Welcome to Maine.
I just sent an email to my son and office manager back in Sac and told them about my find. I think Dover's a little cheaper than there. Plus I'm getting a good deal too. The place should be $500.

Thanks all for the welcomes and well wishes. And Maineah is right about being glad about not hitting any rain. It could have been hideous. Just sitting in the driveway here at my sister's house last Saturday, the boxes got soaked. So much for my great tarp job. I'm just lucky at wheels I guess.
