The job search for DH starts officially on Monday morning. Yay!! We got some loose ends tied up here with a quick sale of our house, taxes are done, and a few other things that needed to be cleaned up. Now all we need to find is the job and we will be packing up and heading HOME!!!

We have no expectations of it being a quick or easy search, but you just never know. With luck, we will be there for a beautiful Summer at the coast.

Congratulations!!!! Have you decided on an area? I know a while back you didn't feel like you enjoyed where home had always been and so the thought was to change where you land permanently. Are you still leaning in that direction?

I certainly hope your wish comes true and that you're home for a wonderful summer in Maine!!!!

Congrats on the quick sale of your house. Here is something to consider. About 3,000 people have left Maine with the closing of the Brunswick Naval Air Station. Maine's loss was Jacksonville, Florida's gain. This spring the Brunswick area is going to realize that if they want to sell a house they better get realistic about prices. That would be a good place to look.

We are hoping, still, for the Bangor area but it's not carved in stone. We know we have to be flexible because of the job market.

NMLM, very true about Brunswick. I lived there for 3 years as a kid. I liked it and had good friends but my parents hated it. DH & I have been thru there a few times over the years. We like the proximity to the coast of course. Just wish it was further north but, again, we are definitely going to be open minded about where we land so you never know.

Brunswick would appeal to me because of it's proximity to the ocean and to Portland but then the real estate prices in Bangor would probably be a bit lower. Who knows you may end up living near me lol

Hope you folks get just what you're looking for in a Maine place! Hooray for another family finding their dream! I think we may be in a position to start looking by next winter. It seems a long way off, but we'll build as soon as the weather clears...could be settled in by a year from this summer!

Seriously, it's better to be away from the cities down here. We're not sure just what will happen later this year. Already lots of home burglaries, and we're in the rural suburban-type neighborhood! Anyway, wish you best of luck finding both the job and the new home! We'll be on your tail soon enough, following you up there!

Newdaawn, you never know. We really do hope for Bangor. It's familiar and we aren't interested in being in the more crowded southern part of the State if we can avoid it.

Nor"eastah, that would be great if you came along right behind us! Of course, we are from Maine anyway and made the BIG mistake of moving away nearly 4 years ago. Big, BIG mistake!!! We will rent for the short-term and then start thinking about another house. I would like to build brand new this time, but I also have the "save" gene and have a difficult time resisting those poor old houses that have been abused and neglected for so many years.
