I have seen a house online that I really like. I just wondered if anyone could tell me about it's location. Belfast may be a good fit for my family.
The location is 58 Union St., is this a nice area?

It's one of the best neighborhoods in Belfast.

I'm from Belfast...It's definitely a nice area. There are lots of big houses down there, a few apartment buildings I think...but nothing more than 2 or maybe 3 unit apartments. Very short walk to the beach and into the center of town to the shops/bars/movie theatres. It's a short drive to Hannaford, Ocean State and Reny's as well as the auto parts stores. The hospital is close by. I haven't been down there lately, but Jacks Grocery used to be right close to there...just one street up which was/is good for a cool drink in the summer...not sure if it's still open. Definitely a nice location...the only thing to be aware of is that most of the houses down there are very close to each other and you will have pretty much no land...I'm assuming probably .1 to .15 acres tops. Other than the neighbors you shouldn't hear to much of the "city" noises because it is far enough down from all the shops and such.

Belfast is a great town!!! I spent the summer at the Moorings Campground last year after two summers in Searsport. Loved it.

I just went and looked at the online listing for the house. Very nice older home. Love those! Just keep in mind that the coast gets icy and that driveway might not be so much fun when it's glare ice. Other than that, I'd be all over it

Cute house! We love Belfast! We would have bought there, but DH's commute would have been too far. It's such a quaint, nice little town. Are you still considering the Camden/ Rockport area?

Thanks guys! Belfast has looked good to me since I first started looking at Maine. But the property tax seems closer to what it is in Rockland. The Camden/Rockport area is my first choice if I can find a nice home at a good price. Their inventory is limited right now , our realtor says it will increase quite a bit in the spring. So many areas are nice, how do you decide?

We lived in Northport, in between Belfast and Camden. It's a great area! We still have a house there, sitting empty. It's killing me!

Couldn't resist chiming in. Could it be that lawmom is avoiding Maine winters?! Would be hard to beat Las Cruces for that...!

And I have to laugh at the thought of being "stuck" in Santa Fe. You poor soul!...Hehe....Just kidding.

I am "stuck" in Ashland, Oregon, and must drown my sorrows in our local microbrews each week or in hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. Torture I tell you, torture!
