Mild winter out here in WI too, the last of the snow was gone mid-March. Today's temp is supposed to be near 80*.

I'll take cold over temps above 75* any time.

April 1st, and I have no doubt the A/C will be on this afternoon. Ugh!

LOL! Well, as I said, I think I agree. My personal idea of hell is moving to Florida. No mountains, relentless heat and humidity, bug, yuck. I am not bagging on the sunshine state, just saying it's not my cup o' tea. Give me woods, hills, and seasons, gatorless rivers and lakes, and rugged coastlines anyday. Texas would be a close second on the FH purgatory index. But I love New Mexico. Go figure.

Smile what a lovely day!

Coltsfoot in bloom this afternoon and it fooled me; at first I thought it was a dandelion http://www.freewebs.com/starclan_2006/Coltsfoot.jpg

Flock of Red-winged Blackbirds descended on the field out back this eve.

Still haven't seen/ heard woodcock. One peeper - positive ID'd last night.

Fish-belly white me is feeling a little suntoasted from working outside all day.

Hope everyone enjoyed the outdoors a bit today!

By morning you'd be in hypothermia. On the other hand I can sleep outside when it's 70 degrees at night quite well.
I suppose one is as bad as the other though cold will kill you outright in a hurry where heat will kill you slowly. I wouldn't want either one as a steady diet.
When I had my boat down here in Long Island, NY, I used to fish into December.

First year I had it, I knew fishing season was over when the harbor froze (December, 1976).

End of fishing and before coming in, I'd rinse the fish blood and bait off the gunwales with buckets of saltwater, which would often freeze on contact and I would end up wiping sheets of ice overboard.

I used to ride horses through the snow and all winter long--at night, fully exposed to the wind and cold.

I loved it all.

Hate the heat.

When it gets above 70, I can't stand it.

We had a few good snowfalls down here in New York City this past february--finally--and four weeks later the temp is already in the 70s. I hate it.

I went to Florida a couple times in the spring. What a miserable climate, what a flat boring place. I'll never go there again.

Can't imagine how miserable I'd be in Texas or Virginia, or any of the other sweatbox states--now that makes me shiver.

And this summer, I'll be coming 'round the corner for a visit or two! I'm all ready looking forward to the things I can stuff in my car for the first trip.

It's a "dry heat" in the oven too but, I prefer not to be roasted.

I visited relatives in San Antonio once. every time I complained about the heat, their only reply was, "but, it's a dry heat". I felt like my brain cells were being toasted and all they could say was , "but, it's a dry heat" in that cowboy twang of theirs.
