Jordan Pond House, on Mount Desert Island(situated in the middle of Acadia National Park), has a seafood gumbo that beats anything I've ever eaten anywhere---including New Orleans. And their swordfish is incredibly yummy, an item that is notoriously dry and awful.

But I don't eat out a lot and don't always order seafood when i do. Plus I have pretty mundane tastes. If someone else cooked it, and I don't have to clean up afterwards, its pretty wonderful if you ask me.

^I would say Blue Sky on York Beach hands down. Other places have good seafood, but this place specializes in it and does a wonderful job. I love Lydia Shire's other restaurants and this one is just as good as her others. Prices are a bit more reasonable here as well.

Gumbo???.....that's pretty New England sounding to me!!! To each his own I suppose.

Best seafood in Maine??

It depends on your tastes. Some like fancy sherried up fish dishes with the proper wine, sauces, decor', setting and a chamber ensemble playing some proper mood music in the background. Others like greasy fried clams in beer batter shoved into a pint box at a drive in. There are a good many restaurants in Maine famous for one recipe or another. Some specialize in gourmet fare others sell clam cakes and french fries. You'll find someone around here who will tell you each of these places is the best place to get seafood hands down in the whole State of Maine. It depends alot on what you're looking for.

You're welcome! DW will love you for it (not that she doesn't already, of course). The setting and decor are nice too.
