Yesterday I got the bug to go on a roadtrip. Hubby is working all evening, and I have the day off. New York City? Not on your life But I had the hubby going for a least a few hours thinking I was headed to NYC, which is 1.5hrs away from where we live.

Finally I broke down while speaking on the phone to him. I ask "is there a burough or a town named Kennebunk?". "Why no", he says, "the only Kennebunk I know is in Maine". "Huh, guess that explains why I'm driving north on I-95 then, now doesn't it."

I spent most of my time in Kittery, of course at the Kittery Trading Post looking for ways to help the Maine economy. And, I almost smoked a huge deer with my truck on the highway. All told I spent 3hours in Maine, the drive itself was 4.5hrs one way. Was it worth it? Being that it was totally spur of the moment, yes.

Better yet, it's motivated my Maine native husband to get the ball rolling. "This weekend we're going to see Dad in Bangor and then visit the County." He looked pretty serious when he said it

There's nothing like a spur of the moment trip to make you happy. Something about it amkes the adrenaline run and the smiles come out. Glad to hear it's contagious. Have fun.

When I saw that blue and white sign on the other side of the bridge, I couldn't help but to smile. It took me well into the next day to wipe that grin off my mug

I love impromptu road trips! As far as driving 9 hours overall to spend 3 hours in Maine, totally worth it! This is coming from a guy that drove 26 hours overall to spend 48 hours in Maine, some of the best 48 hours of my life.
