Just tuned in this afternoon to Fresh Air on NPR (without Terri Gross, thank goodness) to hear our own ( Mermaid's sister) Linda Greenlaw speak while I was in the midst of spackling and painting.

She did an awesome job and had a wonderful rapport with her male interviewer. I was so proud of her and her literary achievements!

I heard her on NPR more than once through the years, and she was interviewed on NPR's Leonard Lopate's show last week (interview can be downloaded or streamed here: The Leonard Lopate Show: A Swordfishboat Captain Returns - WNYC (http://beta.wnyc.org/shows/lopate/2010/jun/02/swordfishboat-captain-returns/ - broken link) )

The only one of her books I have read is "The Lobster Chronicles," which I didn't find to be very good.

But I have heard good things about some of her other books, so I do plan to read one of her better ones soon.

She was played by the actress, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, in the recent movie, "Perfect Storm":

Seriously? I don't know which character I found more hilarious: "Stern Fabio" or "Rita." Every Maine town has a "Rita" so maybe that one's a little more.

I have read most of Linda's books and just picked up Seaworthy, should be a great read, I found Lobster Chronicles to be an outstanding book. It gave a wonderful insight to island life and lobstering and I am glad her story was shared to me.

Thank you everyone! It's okay if OutDoorNut didn't care for The Lobster Chronicles. Not everyone has to be a fan, but my entire family and I thank you all for your wonderful support throughout the years.

( I need to come in here more often to spread the love, I owe you all)

Hey, don't get carried away. I only read that one book of hers.

I very much suspect I would like "Hungry Ocean" and this newest book of hers.
