I am a female in her mid-50s relocating (with employed spouse) to the greater Capital area in September. Since transportation links appear to be very good throughout the area (a plus); costs of living appear to be on the high side throughout the region (a wash); and my job search is just beginning I would appreciate input to help focus my search. Any ideas, based on your experience and observations, to rank from 1 (best) to 5 (not as good) the states of Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania or DC as the area more likely to be over-50-hiring-friendly for a white collar female worker? And any ideas of specific companies more likely to hire an over-50 female? My background is corporate, as a researcher, analyst, writer, communicator and company representative in the energy, real estate, law and healthcare sectors. I have also supplemented my income as a licensed realtor taking listings on weekends and a certified paralegal on contract basis. I have a BA (Political Science major and Comparative Languages - SP, FR, IT and English minor) and a Master's (International Affairs) from top-of-second-tier and bottom of first tier state universities. Any ideas? (As additional information, we will be living fairly close-in as my spouse's employment locates him in the Rockville - I-270 area.) In these times, how long is a DC area job search likely to take, on average? Is government a good target even without prior public sector employment history, or should I stick to for-profit and non-profit corporations? Thanks in advance for your ideas.

I sent you a direct message. Just a suggestion on a company that is growing and hiring.
