I am looking for any recommendations for schools for a surgical tech program in the Baltimore, MD area?

Howard Community College has an Associates and a Certification program
Baltimore City Community College has both also I think.

Howard Community runs pretty good health programs, the students all seem to like the instructors. I only know one person that went to BCCC, and she said she got a good education from there. Either one would be good. Call and ask what hospitals (if any) they send you to for clinical work. I think HCC only uses Howard County General, so you'd be stuck with just general surgery procedures, where you may be able to get into one of the big OR's in Baltimore City for clinicals and see some interesting cases.

No, the above message is completely wrong! I am a current ST student at FCC researching the areas of surgery at HCGH and they do a lot more than just "General" surgery! You will do plastics, oral, ortho, vascular, pediatrics, cysto, endo.. I don't know about Cardiothoracic, but Thoracic -yes. Just because it says "General" doesn't mean they only do "General" Surgery. It means that the hospital itself is not designated to a specialty, they do a little bit of everything. Take it from me, don't enroll in FCC's program- it sucks! They do not teach you anything in class and then you are thrown into clinicals- like a deer in the headlights. I don't know about any other programs around the Baltimore area- but good luck to you!

very good program. hard to get into. as with most of their medical programs. one thing is for sure, they definitely will get you a nice job once you are done. my nephew did the PA program at CCBC and he says what he learned there was better than what he learned at his undergrad school.
