A lot of the Maryland Haters don't want it because they FEAR that it will entice the Businesses in Virginia to relocate to Maryland......

You can't be that slow. If anything, it would cause Maryland businesses and consumers to do business in Virginia.

New crossings of the Potomac River were once on master plans of the 1960's and early 1970's, but were removed from those maps, in large part thanks to the late Idamae Garrott when she was a member of the Montgomery County Council (she was later a member of the Maryland House of Delegates and then Maryland State Senate, died in 1999).

No plans on the maps for anything at this time. Montgomery County's elected officials worry that it would damage the county's Agricultural Preserve, and Virginia's Piedmont Environmental Council is dead-set against any new crossings of the Potomac River as well.

And I would very much expect that style of rebuttal from a possible Virginia Tax Payer.......

Again the Maryland Haters are threaten that a New Multi-Lane Expressway will entice businesses to relocate from Virginia to Maryland......

In marked contrast to booming Loudoun County, the whole northwestern part of Montgomery County is zoned as an agricultural preserve, and the bridge would bring development and traffic there which MD does not want.

Such a bridge would also encourage Marylanders to use Dulles airport more, instead of using BWI airport, thus diverting revenue from MD.

BWI is a lot cheaper than Dulles to fly in and out of, in my opinion. A lot less headache too.

Business travelers do not always fly cheapest. It's a lesser hassle only because there is no bridge. If they built the bridge then it would be less of a hassle to get to Dulles than to get to BWI (even with the ICC in place).
