We are moving to the Bel Air area soon, and plan on spending a fair amount of time in DC, most often on weekends.

We are wondering what the best Metro stop is in terms of safety and driving time. On the map it looks like Greenbelt, but we don't know anything about the area. We would normally get back pretty late, after mindnight, so a safe walk to the car is essential. Also we are wondering if the Metro is generally considered safe or if there are any partucular stops to avoid.

Thanks so much for your help!

Greenbelt is fine. On the weekends one can actually park there, too.

Yeah Greenbelt is fine and the closest stop, although it's basically just a huge surface parking lot, so you may have a pretty far walk to the car, but it usually seems to be decently lit.

But that's still pretty much a 4 hour round trip, so if you really are going to be spending a fair amount of time in DC, you're also going to be spending a fair amount of time traveling to and from DC...

The B30 bus doesn't really serve the BWI parking lots ... and it is more expensive to park at BWI than at Greenbelt.

hence why 411 or 410 need weekend service so this doesnt happen!!! if 410 ran on weekends one could use 410 to light rail to B30 or 201!!! the weakness is isolation

I'd like to see weekend bus service too, but the demand really isn't there. People wouldn't live in Bel Air if they were interested in using public transit.

actually local buses there have weekend service so in my plan cut those rtes extend 410/420 over the path of the locals then add service levels equal to the rtes eliminated. the 420 or 410 can inter line with 310 the the cycle continues again!!!!
