I am looking for a preschool/daycare near Odenton (Piney Orchard), Gambrills, Crofton area. There is one called Play and Learn which is very close to the Odenton MARC train station. Seems like a great location, but I haven't seen many reviews online about it.

Any recommendations? I am also looking at Creative Garden Learning Centers, Beaver Cree, and The Young School.

We'll be moving to the area this fall and my son will need to be in a pre-k program by the time we move.

Thanks!

The Young School is overpriced and the people running it are too snobby.

You might want to add The Newbury School (Newbury School - Excellence in Early Childhood Development & Education - Private Preschool Gambrills, Maryland) and Vineyard Childcare (Home) to your list of places to check out.

Ours is much younger but during our visit to the Newbury School, everyone seemed nice and organized. The center is clean. Just a great atmosphere. Located down the road in Crofton.

A buddy of mine in Chapel Grove takes their child to Vineyard Child Care and they love it. It's in Millersville but not too far from Piney Orchard.

I don't personally know anyone that has experience with the other places, but I've heard good things about Play and Learn. We didn't tour as there wasn't any room for infants.

Thanks for your reply. I'll check out the schools and post where we end up.

My nephews went to Beaver Creek and loved it. My brother and sister-in-law seemed happy. I've also heard good things about the Newbury School. If you're in Odenton, Newbury is more convenient than Beaver Creek. Incidentally there's also a place in Crofton called La Petite and I did not have a good experience there. This was a few years ago so things may have changed, but thought I'd throw that out there.

There is also a preschool called Crofton Day School that we LOVED. All 3 of our children went there and this is my first choice. However, as far as I know it is a preschool only and doesn't offer daycare --definitely double-check that b/c I'm not sure.

You should join BaltimoreMommies.com and ask them, they cover that area. Good luck!

We were actually signed up for la petite in Crofton as it's hard to find infant daycare around here. During our second visit, we were introduced to the new manager and she "oversold" how much she loved our child. Kept saying how adorable and cute she was - and how she'd come all the way up here from Waldorf just to babysit anytime. This went on and on for 10-15 minutes that it actually got to the point it was uncomfortable. That, and it seemed there was some tension between the manager and the assistant manager. For all we know the childcare could have been fine but we weren't interested in the drama.
