Onancock, I never heard of the place, I'll check it out. Thanks. Wife and I have been researching for over a year now where we will move once we've saved the cash. Nothing has fit the bill perfectly. My original plan was somewhere in the Midwest but she wants to be a day's driving distance from the family... so looks like we will be exploring VA's Eastern Shore come summertime.

Parksley is a town I like a lot and not really a tourist destination but is close to onancock and chincoteague. It's sort of Midwestern in that it was a planned railroad town, a rarity for the eastern shore. There's a few restaurants, a grocery store, a couple other shops, and the eastern shore railroad museum.

Keep in mind that outside of tourist bucks, NASA and the coast guard, the economy isn't great around there.

However what a great location to retire. Close to so maybe major cities but so far away, at the same time.
