Help! My husband has taken a job in Havre De Grace. My parents live in Alexandria, VA. We are looking to live in a Baltimore suburb that is an easy commute for my husband and not too far from my parents.....I am thinking northern suburbs. I know the northern suburbs are extremely expensive. Are there any places that are affordable nearby, but have great schools? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

OK; Some advice:
Live in Havre de Grace.
It's an absolutely wonderful place.

On those occasions when you want to drive down to VA...
or Mom and Dad might come up to visit...
the trip will be an extra 25 miles along the same road (I-95).

You'll all get used to that quickly.

And Harford County schools are doing a great job.

I agree about living in Havre de Grace. Everyone seems to love it there and it has such a wonderful community feel.
Good luck and welcome to Maryland.

Havre de Grace is pretty nice, but you also might want to consider Bel Air. I work in HdG and a couple of my coworkers live there and enjoy the community.

Also,t he 95N morning traffic is pretty light. So, where ever you decide upon, stay close to the Interstate and the commute will be a breeze.

Is all of Bel Air pretty expensive? So far, I have only found very expensive homes there - good schools though!

You should probably start a new thread on Edgewood.
Or find one of the older ones.

I'm a MD Realtor and I couldn't agree more with the other subscribers - live in Havre de Grace. Great little waterfront town... pretty, good restaurants, some art galleries - and the all important Bomboy's Homemade Chocolates!

You're close enough to the crowd down in Arlington and you can use the train out of Perryville or Aberdeen to get there. Live in a lovely little town and commute to the maddness - not the other way around.
