Burtonsville, Laurel, Savage and the south side of Columbia are a few locations geographically about mid-way but a lot depends on where you need to specifically get to at each end location. Other possibilities may be better depending on your particular end location in Owings Mills and Vienna. The Damascus, MD and related areas might also be a consideration.

A midpoint location may not be your optimal choice. Getting to Owings Mills is a whole lot easier via smaller roads than the Vienna area. Northern VA. is categorically a mess traffic-wise. Your biggest crunch will be getting to the Vienna location.

Commuting (presuming thats a consideration) in both those areas takes some serious planning. Distance can be a secondary factor getting around this general area. Your primary consideration (commuting-wise) is the degree of congestion you may have to deal with on the primary roads. It is often a better choice (and much less stressful) to live away from the main drags and travel secondary or smaller roads to avoid the daily crunch (as much as is feasible).

The entire area is fairly well populated with apartment choices almost anywhere you might want to locate. You shouldn't have many problems on that front.
Hope that helps.

It's not gonna work.

Decide which of you has the better job **now**
because one of you will need to change jobs soon.

Live conveniently to that better job...
while the other of you suffers with the longer commute...
for as long as it takes to find another job closer to home.

For the 2-6 months you'll need to use such... it shouldn't matter.
