Hello,
My husband is being relocated to MD for work and his office will be in Nottingham. We have a 10 month old son and are looking for a low crime, safe, family friendly neighborhood. Any suggestions on areas to look around and stay away from? Thank you!

Until about 10 years ago, no one (that I've ever known) in B'more ever used the term "Nottingham".
The area was called Rossville just like the Post Office still refers to it.

Depending on how much money you have available...
The place to live choices (that I'll point you toward)...
run north from there along US 1; ranging between Perry Hall through Kingsville to Bel Air.

We are looking to rent a 3 bedroom home/townhouse and currently pay $1100 for a 2 bedroom in Michigan. We understand the cost of living in MD is higher and will be looking for rentals higher than what we pay now.

There's a number of places around Nottingham that would be nice for a family. Generally for a modest home I'd be looking at ~$1200-1600 a month. I live in Parkville and have friends in Nottingham. Most of the homes are the same brick row home built about 50-60 years ago.

Mostly just depends on what you're looking to spend. It's an interesting time in real estate here. Many comparable homes can be purchased for a much lower monthly payment than renting the same home.

That is a confusing area. The Nottingham (21236) is in what we would consider White Marsh. Meanwhile, the Perry Hall (21128) post office is located in what could be considered Nottingham. You also might consider doing a search for zip code 21237 (Rosedale).

Thank you everyone for your help and advice. I'm planning on making a trip out next week to check out different areas and appreciate your feedback. It's hard when you have never been somewhere... everything is new and unknown.
