There are a lot of neighborhoods in Baltimore that are becoming gentrified and as such, trendy. But obviously they're quite urban.

Silver Spring, MD is a favorite of mine. Slow pace but very close to restaurants and movies, and the Red Line for the Metro if you don't wanna drive into DC. Also not too far from Montgomery Mall.

Look into Rockville too. It's a nice town that is well-situated with a lot of places.
