Queen Anne's County, Talbot County, or Anne Arundel County? (Baltimore: to rent, new home)

My boyfriend and I have decided to get a place together somewhere in Queen Anne's County, Talbot County, or Anne Arundel Country- near Annapolis. The problem is, we know nothing about these areas. I currently am living in Baltimore City and my boyfriend is stationed in Dover, DE, so we are looking to rent a place somewhere in between. We are both 25 years old and moved to our respective locations about a year ago from Ohio- so this is all new to us. I personally like the Annapolis area, although I have never been to the other counties- but living there would be closer to where I work and farther for my boyfriend- so I want to be fair and consider all options

Anyway, our criteria in our new home is pretty simple, or so we think:
1. Safe
2. Affordable- we want to rent initially and are targetting to spend $1000-$1500 per month (or less)
3. Updated area- we don't want to live in a place that has a very old feeling
4. East access to highways to get to our jobs easily
5. Nighlife and a younger population- we are both 25 years old
6. An area with things to do in general

Any thoughts/opinions/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please help!

First of all, you need to visit these places first to get a real feel for the different areas. They aren't that far from you so spending a weekend there shouldn't be too hard. We can give you general ideas, but you'll need to go yourself.

1. Queen Anne's and Talbot are generally safer than Anne Arundel due to being much more rural and less populated.
2. Again, Queen Anne's and Talbot
3. I'm not sure what you mean by this. Not old as in not historic, but "modern" as in new suburbia? Or not old as in not "run down"? I'm sure there are places in all three that would fit any of these descriptions, however, of you desire suburbia and more "culture" and "diversity", Anne Arundel.
4. Likely Anne Arundel.
5. Anne Arundel. Again, the other two counties you mention are fairly rural. Either you adopt to that lifestyle, or be prepared and don't complain if you select them. I can't think of much nightlife whatsoever besides local bars in Queen Anne's and Talbot.
6. I think you are looking for Anne Arundel, with the things you mention. I doubt you'd be happy on the Eastern Shore. Too much of a change I would think, and not enough stimulation for you. I would suggest you stick with the Annapolis area.

Are you working in Baltimore? Is it a job you can't leave?

These two places are really tough to live between.

Little to no nightlife in the rural counties. Also a bay bridge commute is not fun in the summer.

If you can leave your job I'd just go live in the Lewes/Rehoboth area.
