I am currently working in Rockville, living in Fairfax. My wife and I are looking to move in the next year and are considering points north and west of Rockville. We definitely want to buy, and have a budget around $200-250,000. The problem is I have no idea how my commute will change (right now it is ~25 minutes morning, up to ~1.5 hours in the evening sometimes longer on occasion). My hours are early (7-3:30) so getting a head start on everyone else helps. From hearing the traffic reports in the morning coming into work, it seems 270 is a mess even during the early hours, so I am weary of Frederick for this reason. Are there any other areas that might be a possibility? We have looked at Damascus, Mt. Airy, Frederick.
