A fellow WNYer!!!!! I'm originally from the Rochester area as well as now live in Hagerstown. Just as a heads up the Wegmans in Frederick is wonderful and only about 20-30 minutes from Hagerstown. It's where I go for my weekly grocery shopping. Nothing in Hagerstown can compare. If you have any questions I would be more than happy to help! Washington County does have a bus system Transit Home And the Robinwood area (where I live) is very nice. Close to major amenities, including HCC. They're in the process of building a gorgeous new central library downtown. In terms of places to avoid, no where in the area is going to be as bad as the Alphabet Avenues of Rochester, but the crime is usually centered around downtown. The parks here are gorgeous, especially City Park. Hope this helps!

Additionally Washington County (most counties in the US per the ADA) offer a dial-a-ride service for the disabled and elderly: Washington County, Maryland

I wouldn't mind living in Clear Spring. Nice little town, great scenery.

Oh so glad your family and you are having a positive experience here! How has the transition been? I miss some of the restaurants, foods and other things from Rochester and WNY, but overall enjoy the Hagerstown area.
