Real simple question and real simple way to answer.

Yes. I think it will squeeze by in the House by only a couple votes.

I also think (know) that it will be petitioned to referendum, much like last year's Dream Act was. No prediction right now on the outcome of either vote.

It will get passed. Marty wants his liberal cred to run for President in 2016 and he will go to hell and back and do whatever he can to get it passed. Lawmaking is like sausage, you get disgusted when you see how it's made but I will feel proud the day MD passes the gay marriage law.

I am hoping it gets passed and goes to referendum and fails there. We need to get more conservatives to get out to the polls on election day and nothing does it better than these type of issues. Not that I really care about gay marriage, either way. But if we can get more conservative voters involved maybe we can eventually save this state from the tax and spenders (or the spend, then tax-ers)

Chances are given now you have case law to go on that would be challenged in court and meet the same fate of the one in ca .

I agree but it maybe a wash my guess is that the black churches especially in PG will turn out their flock in large numbers to kill the law come November. It's doubtful they will vote GOP.

The New York stated that 50% of Marylanders support the bill while 44% oppose. It looks like it going to pass the Senate, the Governor and then based on that opinion poll, the referendum. It could fail, but it is looking more likely to pass.

Does anybody know if this bill stands a chance to go to referendum? I remember hearing about some civil rights clause that can prevent some bills from reaching referendum. Does anybody know anything about that?

I hope so, gays getting married doesn't affect anyone at all so I really have no problem with it. If it goes to referendum and gets killed there I think I'm moving the **** out of this backwards-ass state. Too many tax-and-spendocrats and too many right-wing nutjobs. Where, I'm not sure, as I love living in this region. VA generally gets things right although they're a little too neoconservative in some respects and DC is a mess, politically speaking.
