I've been wracking my brain trying to think of the B&B we saw in a town just before Cumberland on 68 (starts w/a G maybe?) - There is a restaurant, B&B, some antique/collectible shops, etc. - restaurant is run by Mennonites. Anyway, it's another quaint little town near Cumberland so both are doable. I like Cumberland (we meet there w/friends from Pgh. so it's kind-of halfway), it's just that there isn't much open downtown anymore sadly, and w/all those cool buildings, it's really a shame. I also recommend going to the Visitor Center at the train station, honestly, it's the nicest one I've seen.

Maybe Flintstone? There really aren't any other actual "towns" between Hancock and Cumberland on I-68 (Little Orleans is more of a geographic concept.) They have some little B&B type cottages there and a restaurant that used to be run by the Mennonites.

If that is the area, it is very scenic, probably my favorite spot in the county (may family owns some land down that way, so I am a bit biased ) Heavy on trees and mountains, very light on people.

But, I second the train station, even if you choose not to ride the train.

Edit: Duh, stupid me, always assuming folks are headed west....... Grantsville in Garrett County is probably where you mean. Yes, there is at least one B&B there owned by the Mennonites....the Castleman I believe it is called. I have eaten there, good buckwheat cakes, but never stayed overnight.

TY Westsideboy - you're the one I was hoping would answer. It is Grantsville. Haven't stayed their either but it might be nice? The restaurant is one of those old-timey, home cooking, cheap food places. Might be an option for them visiting both places?
