I'm new to the area. Staying with family for now, but hoping to find a place by September 1st. I'll be working in Annapolis and I'm really just looking for a room to rent. Not a full apartment, just a room / house with roommates. My budget is about $700. I realize that's low for this area, but for a single room, it should be doable, right? It's not like I'm looking for a full apartment. It doesn't have to be in Annapolis and I'm willing to make a reasonable commute...but I'd prefer I didn't spend all day in a car.

What locations should I be looking at? Any sites (other than Craigslist) that you recommend? Help me out!

What's wrong with craigslist for something like this?

That's going to be your best bet, by far. You will find something there.

Aside from the above, you might want to check The Capital, it's the local annapolis paper. Here's a link to their classifieds: Home | Maryland Online Classifieds
