Not true at all. If you think this is all about just one issue, I would recommend you do more research. There are a number of things that can be pointed out but gay marriage just happens to be the one that gets the most attention. Many Christians also disagree with his stance on abortion, his support for socialist-type legislation, his constant flip-flopping of ideas (you can this about many of them, I know), and his actions which seem to denounce the fact that he's a Christian (twice read the Declaration of Independence and excluded the words "our Creator"), among other things.

Moderator cut: National politics is for another forum.

Then fine, don't participate in the process. Stay apathetic and complain about everything, but when something happens that you don't like, you better not complain because you were given a choice and you decided to say "screw it".

When something happens that we don't like, we will know that it is just fulfilling prophecy that has long been predicted for this time, which is why many Christians are becoming apathetic. But you know this already.

Considering the law is only about civil marriage, you don't have to worry about anyone teaching anything. Education is not addressed in this law in any way.

Moreover, there's nothing wrong with being gay. It's not deviance. I grew up around it. It's too bad somebody wasn't around to tell me there was something "wrong" with my elders or how they loved, I clearly missed my chance to become a well-rounded, open-minded individual like yourself.

Education doesn't have to be addressed, they have already started it. Passing the law would just further justify it.

From inter-racial marriage to the ability vote Maryland minorities were in a similar position. That said I am dumbfounded about the position that many(especially African-Americans) are taking on this subject.

I don't go to Church unless my girlfriend drags me. It's not my scene. A couple years ago a popular scientist wrote a scathing condemnation of gay marriage on completely secular grounds. He ended up getting fired from his government post as a result.

Liberals don't tolerate dissent.

If you don't believe same sex marriage, fine don't do it. But if there are people who want to marry with the same sex, that's fine too. They should have the right to legally marry within their own gender.

You also have to keep in mind that animals also mate with the same sex long before humans came around. It's nothing new. We have other issues to solve than determining how one defines a marriage.

I understand, I was being sarcastic. It's amazing because all I said was I disagree with it and World War 3 starts. We are wrong for not thinking the exact same way, yet they say people who are against it are close minded.

Obviously they are used to the zombie mentality where people are not allowed to be different.

This thread is proof positive of the indoctrination the Black Church has accomplished on our people. Nobody else is as religious, closed-minded and homophobic as black people (yes I said it!!!) and yes there are more whites who are homophobic, but at least they're starting to change and accept it; it took the NAACP how many years to finally support this? Do they not support the rights of colored people who happen to be gay or bi? Ohh I forgot, homosexuality is a "white thing" so I can see why they never addressed it. But when Obama said he supported it guess what, so did the NAACP!!!

And before you say I'm being biased, I could sit here and rant for hours about how LGBT organizations do very little to represent minorities who are LGBT, but that's a different story for a different day.

Black people sit around and cast judgement on others because "according to the bible...this is wrong!" or "why you trying to act like a white person?" yet we'll be the first people yelling out "racism" whenever one of us is wronged by white folk; be it true or not (see Trayvon Martin).

What's even worse is that politically, the GOP loves this stuff. They love to drive a wedge between us and the gays, two reliable voting blocks of Democrats.

Look, you can be opposed to same-sex marriage, but do not sit here and try to claim that it destroys marriage (we do that on our own), it's wrong, it's perverse, being gay/bi is a choice or that God somehow hates those who engage in such behavior when he clearly made them that way to begin with (if you believe that we are made in God's image). Now ask yourself this; why would God hate something he made that way in the first place? They did nothing wrong yet according to the Bible, they'll be punished for it.

But as I said, we can be some of the most hypocritical people in this country and we don't want to admit it. Only when our rights are abridged, do we speak up and that isn't right.
