The Shell gas station in Mount Airy ,MD does not serve "homos". That's what my friend Dave was told this morning while trying to get gas. Dave is not gay,but that's beside the point. The attendant come out in a confrontational way and said "we don't serve homos!" Dave was mad. He left and got gas elsewhere.
This discrimination makes me sick.

Is this in Prince George's County, where the hypocritical national minority that is in the local majority fought with the help of gays two generations ago to secure civil equality for themselves only to now turn their backs on gays in their own era of securing civil equality?

No, actually it's located next to the most liberal jurisdiction on the East Coast, Montgomery County, in Carroll County.

Mt. Airy lies in the borders of Frederick and Carroll Counties, not Montgomery, albeit very close.

I apologize for smearing the MT.Airy Shell's reputation. It was an error. Apparently the whole thing was a poorly executed joke. I just received a note from my friend explaining that the guy who made the distasteful comment was the son of an old friend of his.I guess he was just trying to be funny. My friend didn't recognize the young man and took the rude behavoir as serious.
So ,the MT.Airy Shell station is Not anti gay.

Ah, nothing like fighting ignorance with stereotypes.

PG went 50/50 on the marriage equality question so in this case the stereotype doesn't even work.

Not really, the ballot measure lost in PG county.

Prince George's

Yes - 49.6%

183,257

No - 50.4%

186,296

You can't round election returns. A candidate/ballot measure either wins or losses. In PG county, marriage equality narrowly lost.

westsideboy, you're confusing two different things: ballot measure and overall sentiment of the county on the issue. Ballot measure is not a great indicator.

Why is PG even being brought up in this thread? A simple google search could have given one the location of where Mt. Airy is.
