Hi,

I am looking to move to Maryland. My husband and I want to live in a family friendly area. We are also looking to have a large lot of land. We don't want to be right on top of our neighbors. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

I am looking to move to Maryland.
1) Which part of Maryland?
2) What is "a large lot of land" to you?
3) How large of a house do you have in mind?
4) What price level can you afford (with that house)?

Oh yeah, where in Maryland will you be working?

1. I was looking at maybe Montgomery County, Anne Arundel County, or Howard County
2. 5+ acres (originally from North Jersey, so that's a lot!)
3. I'd like a 3 bed, 2 bath if possible!
4. Max price 550k

Thank you so much!

I think you should look at Frederick/Carroll Counties and areas west of there or on the Eastern Shore.

I think it is very difficult that you would find a house with 5 acres an any of these counties at that price. Most would be a million or more. That's why it was a good suggestion to look at Frederick/Carroll, Western Maryland or the Eastern Shore.

However, I found a couple of properties that might work for you, one in Woodbine in Howard, one in the nearby Frederick part of Mount Airy. That's the most likely area to find that much land. However, they are older houses.

If you are still interested in Anne Arundel, there are a few properties in Lothian or nearby in Calvert County.

Bingo. We live in Woodbine, although our address is technically Mt. Airy, just north of the county line in Carroll County. We own a 2,000 ft former farmhouse on 5 acres. We do not lock our doors, haven't even before we got german shepherds. This house is currently assessed at $330,000. Having grown up in Montgomery County what I really like is the rolling hills. It's beautiful up here and the mountains are in view from Main Street in Mt. Airy. Folks are very nice and it totally has a country feel to the place, yet there is still the conveniences we need nearby.

See 'ya at the Tractor Supply some day!

Western Maryland is Allegany and Garrett Counties, out in the mountains. I don't think you want to move out that far, but if so welcome.
