If you think you get the same education at Harvard that you do at Towson or Salisbury, then clearly this is not worth arguing. I'm guessing (based on your grammar) that you like to tell yourself that because it makes you feel better about whatever college you went to.

I never said that Harvard was the same level as Towson. My explanation states that in these economic times, John spends over 100k at Harvard and James spends 40k at UMD. Both are working at the same company doing the same thing. Only difference is that John has more loans to pay back than James.

Personally, I work with people that went to Rutgers, Temple, Mason, UVA, and we are all doing the same thing.... They are crying about spending all this money and having to pay back all these loans and etc.

Yes, the UG degree has been "watered" down. However its 2013, don't know of too many places where a college degree isn't needed unlike the 80s and 90s, and maybe the early 200s.

I think we all know none of the various secessions we're talking about will happen -- BUT....it can't hurt to toss around ideas.
In general I've never agreed with the notion that the larger entity/area/state/country that a group wants to secede FROM should be able to prevent a group from leaving.

Why should the state get to say whether a county leaves....and get to keep the people in that area and their tax money 'hostage.' If the people there want to leave it should be THEIR say. If NoVa wants to leave VA, or a state (like Texas) wants to leave the Us why shouldn't it be allowed to?

I think the ES should be allowed to vote to leave -- and the state shouldn't be able to stop it. Same for a part of western MD that might vote to join Wva...or Bowie leaving PG county and join AA.

Of course another issue or factor would be does the area that wants to secede want to be its own county -- or JOIN another area. Because then the area they want to join would also have to right to say yes or no on that.
