My husband is considering a transfer to a company in Towson, MD. We have a daughter who started High School this year, and we would be leaving a New England home w/acreage that we love. Can anyone suggest good places to live in the Towson area (Towson included)? Cost is always a consideration, but it is not the major driver for us since housing in MD is actually 30-45% cheaper than where we live now. We want good schools, a nice yard, a friendly neighborhood and a strong sense of community. Any suggestions?

I'd go up I-83 a good 15 miles, or more, from Towson. Get up far enough to get some acreage and fresh air. Possibly into PA. Lots of folks live in PA and commute to the Baltimore area. I'd go at least to Brandy Springs, Wiseburg or Walker. Note on a map the resevoir up there, the scenery will be excellent. If you're near retirement age, PA does not tax pensions....

s/Mike

Hi,

Lutherville, Hunt Valley, Dulaney, Baldwin & Loch Raven (near the reservior) are nice areas. If you have any additional questions about these areas let me know and I can try and provide more detail. Good luck!

Thanks Mike, I didn't know about the PA pension benefit. I will check these locations out and may have some additional questions. I have a lot to sort out in the next few weeks.

Bjolly, thanks for the suggestions. I may take you up in your offer for more information when I have a chance to do a little research on my own.

I'd also consider Kingsville in Baltimore County and Fallston in Harford County if finances allow.
