Hi

We are looking at relocating to the Annapolis area. I think we would probably live north of Annapolis between Annapolis and Baltimore. I have two questions. What is the general traffic like around the Annapolis area? And, what would the commute be like if I was commuting from the north into Annapolis?

Thanks for your help.

About the same as if commuting from Annapolis to the north:
far too few traffic lane miles vs the number of cars to volunteer for this abuse.

Try to live close to work.
Make the best you can of the other 34 hours a week you'll have.

I-97 can be congested going into Annapolis, Rt 50 is fine in the morning, going home may be different especially in the Summer season.

There arent many highways going into Annapolis so keep that in mind

Traffic in Anne Arundel County from Edgewater on north, can be brutal. Edgewater is just south of Annapolis. Any little thing can make it worse and sometimes it's nothing that makes it worse. You'll just be driving along and suddenly there's a rolling backup. You'll go through that for a mile or two and then get back up to speed again. There's no reason for the backup, it just is. Accidents, beach traffic, events in Annapolis and winter weather all contribute to the grid lock.
