....is like trying to get in touch with Bigfoot.

I've been calling their stupid 1-800 MD Taxes line for the last week, every day, several times a day. On the rare occasion that the call actually connects, I'm told the same thing:

"All lines are currently busy. Additionally, we have exceeded the amount of people allowed in the waiting queue. Please call back later!"

Uggggggh. My kingdom for a representative from the Comptroller's Office!

I was going to say that Bigfoot posts on the NoVa forum, but...

I wish you luck in dealing with the Comptroller's office. My experiences with them is not positive.

It's the peak of tax season. They're swamped.
A truly special snowflake Q might warrant paying a CPA for an answer.

From February 1 - April 15 we experience extremely high call volume.
As an alternative, you can send an email to taxhelp@comp.state.md.us
and receive an answer in 2-3 business days.

The long story short is that my husband neglected to pay $400 last year for his MD Taxes. They withheld the money from our joint Federal Return (expected) AND our joint State Return (unexpected!). In essence, they double-dipped. I just need to know how we can get the money back.

E-mailed them last Monday, STILL no response!

You would think they would hire more people to accommodate the increased call volume.

Where is Louis when you need him :-)
'File today and get your refund on its way'

I wish he would have lived two weeks longer than he did.
