I was surprised that Gibson Island wasn't among them.

Well, I guess I shouldn't get too excited given that I don't live in those particular neighborhoods of Bethesda and Potomac.

But yeah, Maryland is a rich and cool state and all that good stuff.

And this means what, exactly, in the day to day lives of residents? Really?

The fact remains that the State is now, and has been, running a budget deficit every year which makes necessary nearly yearly tax and fee hikes (which won't happen this year due to the election. Expanded gambling has not delivered the money promised yet, although it may in the future).

Two of the State's school systems are perennial under achievers no matter how much money is spent. One of them has had 7 Superintendents in 14 years, one of whom spent time in federal prison for graft while here. Another one left under fire when his credentials were questioned while another one left just ahead of favoritism and sexual harassment charges.

Nearly half of MD's college going graduates go out of the State for college.

One of the last manufacturers cancelled plans to expand its facility here and is now building the expansion in another state.

The Federal government continues to locate facilities in neighboring states, forcing MD residents to endure long commutes.

Get out of Montgomery sometime, as someone mentioned there's more to the state than Bethesda and Potomac.

As you know there's a battle on now for the FBI moving to MD. VA will get that.

Now, to my other statements. Any response?

Didn't think so.

Put your Pom-Pons away.

P.G. County has 25% of the Washington region's population, but only 9% of the region's Federal jobs. Despite the fact that P.G. County has FOUR metrorail lines, and much lower office rents than other metro DC jurisdictions. The Federal G.S.A. has long been biased against locating any Federal facilities in P.G. County.

P.G. County has had basically the same major employers for the past 60 years, with very few jobs added during the past 60 years (except for National Harbour, and for local community service type jobs). Beretta Gun Factory plans to move to Tennessee.

Hmmmmmm.

Maryland's average well-being index ranking over the past 5 years has been 14.2. Not bad. Some would have you think Maryland ranks 45.
