I want to live in Rockville and my job is in Frederick MD, is there an am Marc train that I can catch instead of driving. It would be better for me and my family if I caught the train.

The Marc train travels southbound in the mornings and northbound in the evenings. You can't catch a train from Rockville to Frederick in the morning and you can't catch a train from Frederick to Rockville in the evening. You can check out their schedule at Maryland Transit Administration (http://www.mtamaryland.com/services/marc/schedulesSystemMaps/brunswick.cfm - broken link).

So...this topic is apparently a DECADE old, but it was suggested I ask here rather than starting a new thread. I went on the Commuter Connection website to try to find out, and thought my head would explode. It's so confusing.

Hypothetically, if I move to Baltimore in the future (we'll say next year) what is the estimated monthly cost to commute from say Penn Station to Union Station M-F round trip? And can people use SmartBenefits to pay commuting costs? (right now I'm IN the DC area, so I guess I would need to allocate my funds to a different kind of commuter account, and not DC Metro/WMATA?

Thanks!

Yes... you can use your smart benefits.. I work in Arlington, VA so I send my benefits to the Commuter Store.. then I go there to pick up my MARC monthly. I give them my name/ID and they pull the benefits over... I usually get the MARC TLC which allows for unlimited rides on MARC and METRO (BUS and SUBWAY). You also get unlimited rides on MTA (Light Rail and Bus) so if you have to use any of these providers the TLC is the way to go.. It cost $330 per month. You will need to get a metro Smartcard and have it registered/associated with your benefits since they put the monthly sticker on it since it is a "flash" pass on the MARC train, light rail and MTA Bus and it will allow your unlimited use of metro gates.

You do not have to get the TLC and just get a MARC monthly.. that may run you $150 to $200 per month but you wont have access to METRO you may still be able to use MTA though... your smart benefits should help with that as well. Hope this helps
