My electric meter was swapped this past December for a new smart meter. Someone must have forgotten to mark it in their system or it was setup wrong because they didn't get a meter reading for the next few months. My bill would say "estimated." I had to call twice to have a technician come out and fix it and now it is finally reading correctly. The problem is you call and then you have to wait a month until you get your next bill to know if it has been fixed.

Over that time period (December to April) I was charged for over 3,000 kwh of electricity usage. My new meter currently reads under 2,000 and since a new meter starts at 0, that is all that I have used in that time period. They've overestimated my usage and as a result I've paid more than $100 than I should have.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can do? I've tried calling BGE and I get nowhere with them. Thanks

Good luck getting a refund. What happens 99.99999999999999999999999999999% of the time is that your next few bills will be credited to what you overpaid, so you may have a couple months of no bill.
