Hello,
Trying to decide between these two counties (and states). My job is such that I do not have to worry about commuting for work. I have experience in living in both counties ( grew up in Carroll now renting in York) but as I contemplate buying a house I wonder which state/county is better.

I would like some input specifically on taxes in Carroll county (or MD in general) and if you feel they are worth it for the state services (schools, roads, etc) also. Please give any insight you have on Carroll county or Maryland in general (pa as well if known)

Thanks for the responses

PA has a lower state income tax, and generally lower housing prices. Property taxes in PA are generally higher as a percent of assessment. PA also has some weird little local taxes.

I would tell you that PA school systems are generally better as is the PA system of public colleges and universities.

The problem with York is that too many people from MD have moved there in the last decade or so.

This little nugget is golden. Maryland still has more of those Maryland people, so York it should be.

Maryland's terrible new firearms laws make living in PA a No brainer in comparison to legally acquiring firearms. Do the research & you will see.
