Hi All,

I am thinking of moving to Denton MD. I've looked at citydata and saw the crime rate is above average for maryland. I am a little concerned, but given that it is a small town, the statistics can be skewed if just one incident happens compared to the total population in the area.

I also have a family and a one year old child. Is this area a good place to raise a family? Are the schools any good?

Thanks,
Rich

Do yourself a favor and move to Centreville small town good schools. Even better Easton more to do more culture/money in the area good schools especially Chapel elem. Do all you can to either be in Chapel or saint Michael's schools.

Denton is a nice small town. Not much to do but the cops love getting tourists that come through town during the summer. They need to ticket out of towners to get money for the town. It seems kind of a quiet not much to do place all the times we come through. Check out this site.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep that in mind when I decide to move.

I have good friends that moved from Howard County to Denton about 8 years ago. They have two children, in high school now, but absolutely love it. They were tired of the culture in this part of Maryland and do not regret moving at all. She is a school teacher and he works for a telecom company. They have never had any sort of problem regarding crime or drugs. They moved to a nice, family neighborhood and have been extremely happy.
