Hi folks,

I will be moving Maryland in the month of may15. I will be working at Elkridge, MD and wanted to know which is the best place to live around Elkridge which has a good public transport connectivity, with which I can reach my workplace in 30-40 mins.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Cheers,
newatmd

Elkridge has many nice suburban neighborhoods. Why not live in Elkridge?

The MTA local bus lines are adequate, but the employment sites are so spread out, you will have a faster commute using a car. If you want to explore public transit, start here: Local Bus | Maryland Transit Administration

Bus service in Elkridge is provided by Howard Transit, which is morphing into RTA (Regional Transportation Authority). It would help to know exactly where in Elkridge you will be working. The U.S. 1 corridor is served by the Purple Route. The part of U.S. 1 between MD 100 and MD 175 is also served by the Silver Route. And the Gold Route covers the area around Gateway Overlook and over to the Maryland Food Center (near U.S. 1 & MD 175).

Be aware, these routes only operate once an hour, at best. If you choose to use public transportation, I would recommend picking a place that is located along the same bus route as the one that serves your workplace. That way, at least you don't have to worry about transferring. (Connections between the routes I named take place at the Food Center, as well as at Columbia Mall.)

The only MTA service to Elkridge is Route 320, which runs from there to Baltimore. It is geared to the "reverse commute" crowd; that is, people who live in Baltimore and work in Elkridge.
