Before we signed our lease, we were shown that our condo will have hardwood floors and everything will be renovated fresh and new.

Yesterday when we got the keys and went inside the first time. We were shocked.

It's was completely different and worst I have ever seen.

Then when we came back to the office to talk about it they said their maintenance people made mistake, and if we want to break the contract we'll have to pay 1 month rent?

This is a bloody fraud and we are helpless.

Can anyone suggest us to do anything with this?

Contact your Apartment manager, if not, go to court and try to file a Small Claims case (breach of contract).

Years ago I went through this. Was shown the "model" with brand new everthing, was placed in the worst, oldest least updated unit.

I had a short term lease, and just lived in it till our house was finished. Curious to see how this works out for you. Best of luck!

Same thing happened to my daughter. Shown a renovated apartment with fireplace. Got 1980's kitchen and bath with no fire place for the price of the renovated unit. She stayed for her year and then left.

Always ask to see the unit that you'll be renting. Sorry this happened to you.

I did in my case, it was the one and only corporate place I ever rented. They told me they only show the model. Perhaps in hindsight this should have been a warning bell, but in my case I was under time constraints and did not have the luxury to be choosy. I can't imagine everyone renting has the same issue, but maybe enough for the practice to be an industry standard.

Whenever I rented I get everything in writing. If they tell me what I am going to have and Unit put it in writing.

What the hell are people doing? And have a copy of the lease contract, and read it.
