If you lived here you know that the taxpayers in the Town were financing the beach which was used primarily by non-residents (I would have preferred paid parking rather than beach fees).

As it is this year, between April 1 and September 7, saw 32000 paid admissions to the beach with an additional 8000 resident visits. That does not count those who came to merely walk on the boardwalk and pier.
I agree , paid parking as well. The family likes the fee at the beach for non-residence. It does help keep the area decent.

Thought the old IGA lot was going to have parking meters installed anyways ?

No. That's never even been talked about. It's private property and the owner has developed about 6 different plans for it the last few years. From $1M condos to a conference center to a hotel. None of which make economic sense to do.

Good Morning you two,

I am sorry that you both have/had issues with black people. As a black woman, it frightens me that I am moving in North Beach having the feeling that there is some underlying racial tension. It also behooves me to mention that whilst in CP a group of middle eastern 20 something year olds were loud and wondering in the street. Additionally, I saw a teenage caucasian american ride his bike blindly in traffic. Did I chalk it up to their race, no. Why? Because personally, I think it is not a cultural phenomenon but an individual experience.

I am hoping that I read this entire conversation incorrectly. If I did again, I apologize that you have had an experience or experiences but I can assure you, we all are not unsavory.

Best!

I hope you didn't get that from me, I was pointing out the code words used by a few, note a few, of the residents. Most of those live on the Boardwalk or are the mostly non-resident business owners.

The problem is that there is a core of individuals who feel the beach should be private and get upset when it's busy on the weekends.

I've challenged a few of them in public settings to define "certain people" for me. The response to date, over 30 years, has always been, "Oh never mind".

To say I'm somewhat unpopular in some circles is an understatement.

Thought I'd post this here (though I'm late to the game). Looks like the Chesapeake Resort and Spa is getting ready for a big expansion and adding an apartment building across Rt 261. There are renderings of both projects in the attachment:

Big stuff for the small town.
