I recently saw on the build Crofton High School Facebook that the MGT sudy highly recommended not only a new high school in Crofton, but a new high school in Severn too. "Old Mill West High School," (that's what they're calling it for now). The study also recommended a third high school in the Meade HS feeder system to split the HS population. It would gather from Meade Middle School and Cokran Middle School, which is currently zoned to Glen Burnie HS. They plan on building Crofton and "Old Mill West High" by 2020, maybe the new Meade-Glen Burnie area HS by then too, but maybe a little later.

A lot of existing schools will have major attendance boundary changes as well. With all the free room open at Arundel HS, the redistricting of Crownsville from Old Mill to Arundel HS will most likely happen, as a lot of Crownsville parents wish. South River HS is going to pull more students from the current Annapolis HS feeder system, and Davidsonville ES is proposed to be redistricted to the Southern HS feeder system from the South River feeder system.

Crofton was waiting for the word on the 13th HS and it was positive. The need is there & the Board of Ed already owns the land. They are also calling for a 1,600 seat HS & not the original 1,200 seat proposal, a very smart move. The Build Crofton HS group & County Executive Steve Schuh's support have been critical to get this process started. (-:
