I see some people that don't have front license plate and I just got a newer used car but I don't want the front license plate to ruin the looks . Is there any way I can bypass this like other people do? I really don't want a front license plate.

Yeah, just don't do it. But, if you get stopped and ticketed, don't complain.

Maryland makes an exception if the car has no place or accommodation (like buying a bracket) to mount the front tag. Not wanting to is not an exception.

Move to Arizona, it's not a requirement here.

Or PA. The state income tax is lower and pensions aren't taxed.

There is no exception. Unless your passenger car is registered as a historic or street rod vehicle then two plates are required to be displayed.

I've been getting away without one for 10 years on my Porsche. I do cringe a bit when stopped at a light facing a police car. But so far so good.

Ok. I thought there was an exception if there was absolutely no provision for one.

Bottom line is still that the OP has to have one.

The post above this one says he hasn't had one for 10 years and never got caught. That's somewhat amazing since he drives a car that's traffic stop bait.

You have cops that enforce the letter of the law, and then you have cops that have a little more discretion. I'm sure there are plenty of cops that have seen your vehicle with no front tag, but understand it would probably make your cringe to drill screws in the front bumper if there isn't a bracket there already -- so they chose not to stop you.

If the main reason is that you have to have two license plates then you'll have some research to do if you move since 30 other states also require it.

I honest to God don't understand the angst about this. I moved from PA (a one plate state) over 30 years ago and all I did was go to the parts store (Hell I don't remember now, maybe it was the dealer) and got brackets for the cars. One of them maybe even already had one. It's what you do.

If you say that a front plate ruins the look of some cars I'll agree. Tough.
