Hey guys! I need some help. My husband and I have decided to look into purchasing a vacation condo or townhome. We have teenagers and are looking for a community that’s safe . We want to be able to fin an area with great fishing and boating. The kids want to use jet skis and be able to tube. We have looked into a lake in PA but the commute would be tough. I’m in the South Jersey area close to Delaware. Deep Creek Lake is an option but a little far. We have been looking into some areas on the Eastern shore.

We lived in Bel Air years ago so we are kind of familiar with that area but. It so much the shore. Cambridge has a lot but I was concerned about the safety. The Choptank River seemed like a great river to try?

I have done some research and thought about Easton(if I can afford it), Rock Hall and May St Michaels. Crisfield alsk seemed interesting.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction. Are these areas that might work for a second home? Should I look elsewhere? I have tried parts of Delaware but don’t know it go well.

Thank you so much!!!!

Deep Creek Lake looks to be roughly 4.5 hours from Camden, NJ, so add or subtract from that based on where you live. Deep Creek is mountainous and heavily forested, so you would have that and the lake. That is a long haul though. Traffic would be heavy, especially during the times you would likely be driving(Fridays, Sundays, Holidays).

If it is water you want, somewhere on the Bay would probably be better. Other posters here know more about those parts of the state.

Thank you for responding. That’s what we are thinking. Deep Creek is a haul for us. I’m leaning toward bay. We used to live in Bel Air... and never really visited Havre De Grace. I have seen some townhomes with boat slips and wondered if it has a cute waterfront vibe?

We don’t want to be straight out to ocean because that would be a little intimidating. Rivers like the Choptank would be interesting.
