My husband and I are looking to move closer to Annapolis, but the market is so sluggish where we currently live (near Ft. Meade). We're thinking about trying to rent out our townhome until the market picks up. Anyone know how easy or hard it is to find good renters?

I was stationed at Fort Meade twice, for a total of about six years.
Many of the military would rather take the housing allowance than live in the on-post quarters. The new military housing there is nice, but the lower grades of officer and enlisted have priority (in most cases, as it should be) while the middle and higher grades get the older units. That puts many "on the economy."

See if you can get listed through the on-post referal office, or just take an ad in "the Soundoff" (the Fort Meade newspaper).

There's also a large number of civilian workers on Ft. Meade who are less likely to relocate within a few years if you're looking for more stability in a tennant.

I suppose you could also try a free listing like Craig's list too.

In a few years, due to BRAC, the Ft. Meade area should have a huge influx of people.
