Hello all, I am new to this post but wanted to get your opinion on the following, since I am trying to fight this assessment:

I just moved into a new house in Dec 07. They already sent a tax assessment for the next 3 years and are raising it 10% a year, which i believe is the max. We cannot qualify for the homestead tax credit because we just purchased the property.

First of all, property values are not going up at that rate. Houses are on the market in my neighborhood for 5 months so they aren't selling. 10% increase is totally absurd. We got our house for a steal.

I researched the Balt County tax website and notice several properties which are assessed higher than mine but they pay lower property taxes, which i've printed out. These are all townhouses so, they are pretty close in size.

Any suggestions of how to fight this?

Thank you for your time-
