Looking for reasonable neighborhoods within driving distance, and trying to get a home for less than 300k. I found a few places close by, and I found some really nice places in the Woodstock/Randallstown area. How would the commute be from those areas? There are some really nice houses in those areas that seem to be very affordable!

Don't be in a hurry to buy into one of the highest housing price markets in the country.

Look for a rental within X miles (or minutes) from the new job.
Focus on the work, make a few friends, poke around on the weekends...
once you're sure about the job and the friends and most of a year learning things first hand...
THEN look into what buying choices/options you have available.

I'd look in Odenton and Crofton, Columbia.

If you work a typical 8-5 the commute time from Randallstown will horrible in my opinion. And Woodstock is only slightly better.
