All Walmarts' don't really have great selections on toys. The one in Cockeysville is like a city and it wouldn't be any better than a revamped K&B for toys. My local Target is just as good for toys as the enormous Walmart that's nearby.
And not everybody want's to buy from Amazon. Amazon can be high, imagine that. Hell you could do do better on Walmart's website. Not always, still it's just another option.
They may wan't the toy now, not in a few days. And they can see the toy in person.
That's why thrifts can be great. Look for a bargain and get a kid a toy that will keep them happy, and occupied.
I found a mid 60's space capsule a couple years ago at my local thrift for $6 that has me happy.

I am not really a toy collector. The Capsule was just neat, and cheap. Toy's are mostly just something else for me to flip.
