I hope this post is appropriate for this forum. I trust that someone will let me know if I'm in the wrong place. Thanks!

I'm writing a novel that is placed, in part, in Easton and its environs. I'm wondering if anyone out there would be willing to share their thoughts about growing up or living in Easton (or in Talbot County) in the 60's and 70's?

I'm wondering how different it was back then and in what ways?

(I was born in Cheverly and my family moved to Seattle when I was four.)

Find a copy of "Chesapeake" (Michener) and read the last few chapters.
Then read the whole thing for a deeper historical context.

Thank you for the reminder! I actually read that years ago, and I think I still have it!

This video is probably a little older than what you are looking for but shows what Easton used to look like and is interesting to see how things have changed since then:

PARMD,

That film footage is priceless! I'm floored. How incredible to have that. I'm going to snoop around and discover how many of these businesses and buildings are still around. Thank you so much for sharing that! Truly. - Scott

Most of the buildings are still standing - especially in the downtown area. It's been a while since I have watched the full video but Hill's drug store with a soda fountain is still there, the ice company is still in business (I think - as Easton ICE), the Avalon, Tidewater Inn, and Post Office are still in the same buildings. Many of the store frontages look the same - except most awnings are gone.

I was born in the 70's so I don't remember much before the mid 80's or so but let me know if there is anything I can help with. I can barely remember the trains coming through, the train station is still there, it was just turned into offices for the town.

I wonder if the Easton Star Democrat is is till in business......

Much of the video looks like what small town america looked like in the 40's, and 50's.
