A note about the St. Mary's case, she's somewhat of an outlier and is actually being counted in DC's numbers since she lives there and works in St. Mary's.

Ok, I see that St. Mary's now has a homegrown case.

The day the earth stood still (although the original movie has nothing to do with this)

Friends have a beach house south of Cambridge and if they can get the internet worked out they will be moving out there, she is working from home for the Feds. I supported the move as it's obviously safer. But then I read an article about people escaping their homes in NYC for their summer homes and the people there are trying to block them. Threatening to block the bridge or nuke the power grid.

I can't say as I blame them, their isolation makes them safe and bringing in people from NYC introduces more risk, the local hospitals would be totally unequipped to handle an outbreak. It's an interesting scenario.

Yeah, the scenario of urbanites fleeing the city to find refuge in the countryside doesn't look as farfetched as some would have had it.

There was an issue here last Thursday or Friday (whatever day it was really nice) when the boardwalk and pier was almost shoulder to shoulder, there wasn't a parking space to be found and 90% of the cars had DC or VA tags.

NPB, aren't you a gun owner? Do you know if there's been a run on guns and ammo in Maryland?

Why no, I'm not. I had a tragic boating accident a couple years ago, it capsized, while duck hunting and I lost all my shotguns and rifles.

More seriously, I don't know. My youngest son was at the Dunkirk Wal-Mart last night and he said people were lined up to buy shotguns. Which, if they didn't have any in a storage area, means three or four people since that store isn't known for a deep firearms inventory. In fact it didn't carry any the first few years it was open.

The other couple gun stores in the County I don't know. In fact I didn't even know about them until fairly recently. They don't advertise and their locations are way off the beaten track.

I had heard about the run on guns and ammo as well. Can you guys please help me understand the need to load up on more guns and ammo? Are they planning on shooting the virus? Anticipating total anarchy where we will be shooting our neighbors over toilet paper?

What utter nonsense.
