MoCo sounds much more your style. Carroll County will get under your craw in less than a month.

Towson, Timonium, Lutherville, Cockeysville........

I think this person wants to live cheap, and in the metros it's not happening.

Yeah, but cheap means having to be around conservative people in greater numbers. By the tone of the response to my question, it seems OP would rather not be exposed to such things. Living in the bubble costs more, as you would expect.

Living in Urban centers costs more as you would expect.

Lot of conservatives around here.............

(I remember a time when everything wasn't politicized)

Yeah, 2015 was a great year.

Sounds like Columbia would fit the bill for sure and for what it may be worth the median home value is lower in Columbia than in Sykesville.

I have family in Sykesville and friends in that area, too. Certainly Conservative but it is a place were you can see Trump and/or Bush stickers on a Prius.

You must forget that Maryland overall is an extreme liberal state and all those conservatives you are scared of on the Eastern Shore and Carroll County are totally voiceless? And what's wrong with a Trump boat parade, is that worse than a BLM riot? In fact I was in a Trump boat parade here though I've left Maryland a while back to return South. When I lived in Maryland I had many friends in Carroll County and you will have no issue unless you are the kind of liberal who is offended by everything, demands that everyone say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas, get offended by Trump signs, etc.

Plus, conservative is all relative. Anyone who doesn't believe totally in the BLM narrative is conservative? Sykesville is conservative compared to Baltimore County which is conservative compared to MoCo or Baltimore City. But Sykesville is only slightly center right by national standards.

Remember that Carroll County, Maryland and Queen Anne's County, Maryland is still Maryland. I now live in the Baton Rouge version of Carroll County. This is real conservatism.

Towson and the surrounding communities sound ideal for OP.

There's a significant presence of racial diversity in Eldersburg now relative to how it may have been 20 years ago. It's a fairly well off area, so there's not even much of an in-your-face ancient white component that you might get in more depressed areas. That being said, I'm a childless ethnic white. YMMV.
